While I definitely was granted the gift of gab, I tend to be bit a more concise when writing things down. So here's the short story of how
I got here...
After graduating from UW-Madison in 1998 (in a science-related field), I finally had the opportunity to pick up a camera and learn how to use it. For years,
I was mesmerized by photographs and their beauty. One class led to another, then another, then another. And before I knew it, I was addicted.
At that point in my life, I was just having fun. But then, after graduating from my master's program, I had to make a choice. Ph.D? Or photography? Several key
things led me to the photography path and I am grateful for them.
So, in 2004, I officially started the studio. First in my home, then at a small space on Terrace Avenue, and now today, the studio in Middleton Hills. At the
grand opening of my first studio, I announced the future arrival of our first daughter. Flash forward five years, I now have two kids to balance with running the studio.
Controlled chaos, right?
In my view, photography is such a poweful form of art. During many sessions, I see a reflection of my life or the future of it. Childhood is an amazing time of life and
it's so important to capture the laughs, the
giggles, the sibling love, and to keep it real at the same time.
If we open our eyes to unexpected, during a session or in life, we never know what we are going
to see.

1. Favorite warm place in the world? The village of Jambiani in Zanzibar. Where I lived with my husband in 2001 and discovered that I liked taking portraits, in
addition to inanimate objects.
2. The place I dream about going back to on a daily basis? It's cliche, but Paris. Walking around the architecture, the food, and history is amazing. Especially with a Leica.
3. The perfect dinner? A baguette, good cheese, and truffles.
4. Preferred magazine? Right now it's Vanity Fair, since I love the photography.
5. What I can't believe? That I drive a mini-van. At least it's easier to load up my equipment in!
6. My new toy? A Nikon D700. An amazing camera that has let me go back to natural light and regular lenses.
7. What I miss? Film. But I am going back to it for some of my sessions. I just picked up a medium format film camera and am going to play around.
8. What I do on the weekends? Run around with the kids, do yoga, clean the house, and go hiking in the woods.
9. Favorite clothing companies? Usually the ones with the best ads: Garnett Hill, Tea Collection, White House Black Market, J. Jill and J. Crew.
10. The one thing I couldn't live with out? My paper calendar. I may have an iPhone, but I like to scribble.

Oh, and I forgot my imaginary Leica M7...
